Un scripted

A compact class poem that turns comparison and intellect into a lonely ruleset no one really wins.

'Un scripted' states a flat social rule: dealing with people 'you feell / are smarter than you / Is easy', while 'Dealing with those / less in intelligence / is hard'. Between the two extremes is 'a game', 'just a playing / field', where the speaker reports he is 'Mostly left along'.

The poem is the cleaner twin of 'Empty', which carries nearly the same lines in a more garbled state; here the thought is legible enough to read as a deliberate aphorism about intelligence as a social ranking. The counterintuitive claim - that smarter company is easy and less-intelligent company is hard - quietly inverts the usual anxiety and hints that the difficulty is the speaker's own impatience or condescension rather than anyone's deficit. The middle ground he calls 'a game' and 'just a playing / field' offers the language of fair competition only to undercut it, since the closing 'Mostly left along' (left alone) reports that the game ends in isolation regardless of where one stands on the scale. The title 'Un scripted', split into two words as written, frames these as unrehearsed private calculations spoken aloud, the kind of ranking people run silently and rarely admit; putting them on the page gives them the discomfort of confession.
