By Jack Joseph Smith

For Something he remained true. Even when betrayed by this way untruth - senseless to reply. Objection. The chair creaked and moved. Separation. Thought. The other side of the wall - he could hear the sound take form. Water pushing through the cracks. Between the boards, the color diffused itself - horizon of the carpenter's eye. The Sensation of Sight - the eye caught in a circle cutting itself along the edge. Become in motion. And those outside - just on the other side kept him from falling. Aside. This there was no one - that was the only thing that bothered him.

A handwritten prose fragment describes loyalty, betrayal, separation, sound through a wall, water through cracks, the carpenter's eye, and a fear of being alone.

The page uses architectural and sensory images to think through isolation: wall, boards, cracks, eye, circle, edge, and those just outside all frame a person held from falling but still bothered by absence.

A prose note follows a figure who remains true despite betrayal, hears sound take form beyond a wall, and senses isolation despite others nearby.

The fragment turns interior fidelity into a built environment: boards, cracks, a carpenter's eye, circles, and edges make perception feel structural.
