Whole frame the sun stood still on Animal the Third. Whispering summer wind touched slight as on the brink listening to the sea in murmur taking his body and he rose. Into the dew swam the rayed light. Though there was direct heat removing water; when going beneath, mouth up to sand or soil; plants made mist into a survival for him. At his core was not the abandon- ment of life, nor was being like the outer reaches of lonely worlds. "The feeling takes this Animal through the Earth and out the other side," he murmured. Yet Earth, Fire, and Water, would completely re- turn him to Harnessed Power. He stretched his tongue to touch his ears with, "accent to the lone place knows the last planets dust!" And again. "The Animal was born and raised to know that leaping into thought has consequences!" No need to get far fetched about Animal. "Blood and Skin change where the heaven's streams are in rapids of blue burning wind! And only men in animal form have voyaged the sky's seas," he laughed. With the exception of the Eagle, he was humored. INCANDESCENT CLOWN A bowing MOON The posture of GREAT Actors Will Rogers ASSINS

Animal the Third appears as an ecstatic elemental figure, held in sun and sea while speaking himself into a myth of power, survival, and cosmic belonging.

The page treats the body as both exposed and empowered. Earth, fire, water, planets, and blood run together so Animal becomes less a conventional character than a charged state of being. The lower handwritten notes add a theatrical register, naming clown, moon, actors, Will Rogers, and 'ASSINS' as if collecting images around the scene.

An elemental aria for the title figure: 'the sun stood still on Animal the Third,' wind and dew and 'rayed light' taking his body so he rose, and 'plants made mist into a survival for him.' He speaks himself into myth - 'The feeling takes this Animal through the Earth and out the other side' - vowing that 'Earth, Fire, and Water, would completely return him to Harnessed Power,' and laughing that 'only men in animal form have voyaged the sky's seas,' the Eagle excepted. The lower hand block ('INCANDESCENT CLOWN / A bowing MOON / The posture of GREAT Actors / Will Rogers / ASSINS') drops a theatrical, American-vaudeville register beside the cosmic prose.
