Old ladies; men; families; watch
as the Fox Company begins tearing down
its first house; they go to challenge, the
animal leaves to run in the night; the fox
comes not; calls him just a running mad man;
The poet leaves to call for the animal; he
hears nothing in return for his yelling; the
Animal is two far down the beach, where he is
being chased by toughs considering themselves
revolutionaries. The scene is tight.
Animal is so swift, and his pursuers
are unsure about how long he will keep to his
running, for indeed his reputation is that of
a long distance runner. The animal is unaware
of his chasers until he approaches the rocks
and begins tracing backward his steps because
of the cut off men he sees waiting there for
him. In turning back into a statement he sees the
lead men who have been following him at a jog.
His statement is, "It is time for the Animal
to head for the lights." On the way up the sand
grad he jumped down, one shot through the back
of his head; with just before action words from
the leader; "fuck it, we can't catch him." There
is turmoil in the gestures of those in the gang
for no one but the leader wanted Animal to be
killed.
