Time passed. The caravan came to the end of the formal road, where began a path. They wound up in- to the humped native terrain. There was plenty of sound in the cool jungle night. His thoughts raced toward flight. He felt frozen on his tongue under the night deepened lush forest. He attempted to calm his thoughts into ascension. Storms of energy were bursting in his brow, but he remained control- ed waiting for the first gentle strokes of dawn. Trunks and leaves of trees danced forms and faces, across and from distance to his eyes. When he shut his eyes, he saw himself a fluttering bird; and he attempted to embrace and close that picture to a gliding straight line. He sought a temperance for his piercing thoughts; maybe a meditation. All of a sudden for him, the sun was transforming a mist of heavy water into air. He awoke out of contem- plation, and gazed toward her. Her eyes were out in the distance. Soon they would come to the cliffs; Her home and his challenge.
