Den't ge through the neighbors lawn, my mother called as I was runing
toward eur back fence-and geting ready te cut threugh and up to Daniels,
I didn't say anything and jyst changed my direction and keep going around
eur heme-and up to the street at the top ef the hill and over to Danialss
Gee-it was great to be free and off and runing in the merning fer Danials
house to captuge all the thoughts in my inmagination; :
Through the merning we’went areund to all the beys and girls we daeided
we ceuld trust, mest ef them pretty close te our own ages and told them to
be ready to go apple hunting on Mister Metzea farm in the afternoen, We
told everybedy that they wouldn't have te be afraid of ghests er anything
like that because-they would be driven away by the sun, but we had''te be
on the leekeut, because Mister Metzes-had a-guns Beniat<and I were the two
seoutsy who had risked oyr lives under fire; but with their help we were 2
